Currently pretty deep in a Shopify piracy detection back-end full of legacy code no one understands. Feels like code archeology, full of “this is brilliant”, but also with plenty of “what the hell were they thinking?”

I just finished rebuilding this website from scratch. Part of the reason is practical: the old one needed it. Part of it is that I still enjoy
making things on the web, and a personal site is a good excuse to experiment without needing a business case for every decision.

Astro, Markdown, and a deliberately simple publishing setup.

A lot of science fiction. I tend to like books with big ideas that are still fun to read: strange worlds, believable problems, some momentum.

If it starts feeling like homework, I’m probably out. Currently reading Use Of Weapons by Iain M. Banks.

A lot of life revolves around my family and two young children. I’m trying to keep in shape by doing Olympic weightlifting a few times a week, skiing on week-ends (and during the week when I can steal a workday from billing every now and then!) travel when I can, and just try to spend more time outside than in front of a screen.
